Out of the corner of my eye, at the grimy window high up on the wall, I saw a sudden movement. What seemed to be a large slimy black tail slithered quickly out of my sight. "SALAMANDER!" my mind screamed. I bolted for the staircase.
I skittered up the wooden steps as fast as I could, my hands scrabbling along the surface of the rails. The window behind me crashed open; the salamander dropped onto the floor with a solid thunk and immediately slithered after me. It was lightning-fast, but I was faster.
I scrambled up the staircase with my heart pumping so hard it threatened to jump out of my chest. The slimy salamander slithered behind me, occasionally hitting the wall in haste. My right hand rested on the front of my robes; I was debating whether to use my wand or not. What spell would I use, when would I use it and what effect would it have on the salamander?
I suddenly realised I was nearing the top of the staircase. The giant salamander was thundering upwards, rapidly approaching the foot of the final flight of stairs. Panicking, I vaulted over the rails and landed on the next staircase, in which I promptly slid and slipped downwards. The salamander had plenty of inertia to overcome in order to catch me.
I ran out the open wooden doors, out to the vast courtyard. It was made of a pale cream-coloured rock, and throughout the whole courtyard it was dotted with trees. Several flights of stairs led downwards. The courtyard overlooked a magnificent view of the city below.
As the salamander dashed out in the open after me, I realised that I no longer felt the presence of a giant salamander chasing me, but rather that of a teenager wearing a similar garb. I had no idea who, but all the same I was still being chased. I jumped down the flights of steps, black robes billowing, and ran out to the wide courtyard... ------- BLIP! An orange bar flashed repeatedly on the taskbar. Click. Oh, it's from you. What do you want?
"Why didn't you use your wand to do Harry Potter things?"
I wonder sometimes why I bother numbering my posts. I guess it's to show the MIGHTY WORLD how much I've written. Hm. Maybe.
Anyway. Shall be writing about iFuture trip and today. : D
----------
Arrived at the SSC super-early around 7.50, and I scolded myself for being an asshole to come so early. But luckily I saw Ariel there listening to her MP3, and I felt more comforted. I thought I might want to go to McDonalds' before the event started, but we got carted off at 8 to the registration area.
We had to wear lanyards where we wrote our names down and our group numbers stuck on with a sticker. I wrote my name and added a little >: D emoticon, then later on I took out the card and put it back in reverse, meaning everyone just saw a blank card as my name.
iFuture was pretty fun. I thought it was some individual school tour but it turned out to be a full-scale interschool tour with more than ten schools involved, both secondary and primary. I got stuck in group 17, and was the oldest in the group. =.= Overall it ain't so bad a group. But when the RGS group walked in, I overheard someone say, "Even RGS has a group..." HEY!
Before lunch the event so far was...merely satisfactory. We played icebreaker games however uninterestedly and unsuccessfully. One facilitator stepped in to try and make us be all enthu about it, but seriously, it seemed more like she was scolding us or punishing us for being bad little children.
I liked the introductions though. We had to say our name, school and level, as well as explain why each of us was unique. Everyone said they were unique because of mundane things such as they liked chocolate, they could play computer games 24 hours, they liked ice cream. So I said,
"My name is Munirah but you can call me Muni, I'm from RGS and in Sec 2. I'm unique because my name card is on the reverse side."
Well, that got some laughs at least.
A girl who I stood in line with for our group introduced herself to me as we made our way to the icebreaker games area. Her name was Jia Hui and she was from DHS. I also made some new friends, but sadly I didn't catch their names properly.
Lunch was pretty good. I expected packed styrofoam lunches but we got catering! Spaghetti and chicken drumstick and fish fillet and some fried rings. For dessert there was fruit and eclairs, but I didn't eat them. :/ I drank a lot though.
The iFuture exhibit was pretty interesting, but only some. I saw PS3s up close for the first time, nothing impressive there, but I'd like one to play FFXIII. I saw the trailers and stuff and it's really cool. If I had a PS2 I'd be wanting to play the other FFs and KHs.
We had to read some boards for fast facts on Singapore's road to Infocomm, cos later we had to answer a quiz. As expected...I was the only one who gave the answers. Some questions I didn't know the answers to or had only skimmed briefly, but the others I knew. The facilitator in charge kept joking I had probably eaten the boards up, especially after I recited the answer for "What was one of the problems of the Y2K bug?".
The date on the weather program screens in France read 01/01/19100.
I found that really funny.
The only other notable thing in there was the virtual golf screen. It was...a new experience for me, but I'd much prefer a click of the mouse in Pangya anyday. The really good exhibits like the Segway and this weird simulator-like thing was not available. Grr.
At iSpace, we received these eZ-Link card-like things on lanyards which were actually RFID tags. We were to register our names and ages in the tags at booths situated outside the movie room. Some of the technology in the exhibits were really cool, like the area they dubbed the Minority Report Interface. It was a simple interface really, but the coolest thing was that you maneuvered through the interface using your fingers. My arm ached from sticking it out over the special sensors for so long though.
We left pretty fast though, sadly. Would've been nice if we were allowed some time to explore the SSC itself, and I wish the Nanotechnology exhibit was open. "N is for Nanotechnology", quoted by Hewlett-Packard.
When I alighted from the train at Sembawang, I think I saw the amazing Talking Squirrel. I overheard snatches of conversation that seemed to indicate that one of them knew me, and it looked like him. The person was really tall though; well, not as in 1.7-1.9m, I just mean taller than me.
I must ask him next time if he has an evil and significantly taller clone.

Today, today...I got yelled at in the morning, woke up late, and remembered that I left the kitchen lights and radio on. Must be the reason why someone put the "Leaving? Switch me off!" sign on my computer. DAMN YOU. I KNOW IT ALREADY. So I just removed it and stuck it somewhere else.
But on overall, pretty average day. Didn't do much, just lazed about in front of the comp. I know I have homework, but you know I am a major procrastinator. Anyway next week is Learning Journey Week, the only homework I know of to hand in is the Algebra Assignment.
I accompanied my sister to Sun Plaza just now to buy some stuff and follow my mom there who went ahead. We stopped at the pasar malam for a while cos my sister had gotten hooked onto Uno when playing it on MSN conversations, so she bought an Uno pack. We bought the cheapest one there ($1.50). We knew it was cheap so we didn't expect spectacular quality.
I opened the box, the cards were a little cardboardy but still reasonable quality. Then I flipped the top card over to see if the printing was OK. Still reasonable...and then I flipped through the whole deck.
At first I didn't think much when I saw yellow and red cards...and then I realised that the whole deck was made up of ONLY yellow and red cards, with some wild cards added. I stared at the cards for awhile, mystified, before showing it to my sister.
We both knew the quality was cheap, but really...
...not THAT cheap.

336th post...
I just realised that I haven't blogged in AGES. The last post was on February 10, and now it's March 3! Ouch. >_> I have a lot of unfinished things to do next week. Study for upcoming exams, and finish ComiAsia submission by March 9!
ComiAsia so far I've finished the body and necklace "lineart", and part of the clothing. Then the hair and face, lastly colouring. x_x Urgh. I hope I'm able to finish it by then. What the fish lah...I can't quit now because Alayne's already marked us down for it.
I've already gotten my company posting which is (of no surprise) Admin Sgt or something like that. XD I deal with the admin stuff! All hail the future screwups, congrats! Mar's the treasurer alongside me. Come to think of it, I still haven't put up the newsletter yet *looks for pins*
Jazzo's birthday's tomorrow! Grace, JX, me and Jazzo celebrated it today after Founder's Day. Founder's Day wasn't so bad. I couldn't find the specifics Jaz stated so I just got her this cat handphone strap which had a funny expression on it, and a Pan-taron gachapon! I like the gachapon thingies~ *hints*
We went around to Kino and Art Friend and finally Haru. There was a sale at Haru this weekend, casual streetwear at $10 and 15% off punk and lolita clothing. Next week there's a lucky bag sale, $50 of either punk or lolita. T_T I want...but...I dunno. I don't know what's it like.
The weirdest thing was that when we were looking for Haru, I passed by the place without knowing it. Why? Simple. The shop name was in Japanese, and I failed to notice the paper sign saying "Shop 6. Haru."
I went all WTF?! when I realised that. Though you can't really blame me, since the first time we went around Far East looking for it I was the only one who went through that narrow corridor where the shop was at. Jaz and JX dismissed that corridor and went past it, only coming in temporarily to look for me. HAIL MY DEDUCTIVE SKILLS AND BRILLIANTNESS! >_>
Anyhoo, wasn't really much there since the shop was really small. So we left. =)
We took Neoprints after that. There was a new booth there, with a sofa as the accessory, but it was taken up and more expensive than the others so we took the usual ones. XD Lovu lovu Neoprints! Jaz looked really nice in them!
K, looks like tonight I'll be staying up til the WEE hours of the morning doing research on Barcey. Would've been more fun if it were Harajuku, but it's not a bleeding city so...TTFN~blogyalater
